Howdy, This is one of the critiques Badiou levels at Deleuze's thought. 'Unity of the world'? Perhaps it is time to do that reading of Badiou's _Deleuze_ that was suggested last year and fire up the collective reading machine of the list in a more selective manner? I have not yet finished reading the book even though I started in Nov last year as I keep back tracking, jumping forward and rereading. I will try to put something specific together shortly so as to see if it is possible to catalyse some concrete discussion that does not rely on too many generalisations or schizo-poetic tangents. But for now, and very briefly, some of the points of divergence that I found between the two: 1) The event. 2) Ontology. 3) Ontological role/importance of temporality. 4) Majoritarian/minoritarian militant/ethico-aesthetic practice. That is about all I can think of off the top of my head. I will try to flesh these out and maybe add some more points over the next couple of days. Please add to or modify the list! Lastly, for those that don't know the Spoon's Lyotard list has mutated into the "Discussion of J-F-Lyotard, Alain Badiou, the Event" [THEORY- LYOTARD-BADIOU-EVENT-AT-MAILTALK.AC.UK] list.
