thre are several unpleasant stories in the news just today regarding
violence in haiti. if you follow these stories they tell of a violence
of the latter newer type which pretzel speaks of, violence imposed
from outside powers of U.S. I am sure the carnival violence pales in
this comparision and one can imagine how carnival violence acts more
as reactionary valve to the hydraulic compression with which haitians
must deal.
