Hello! My name is Nirvana and I studied philosophy of Science in Mexico. I am now working on my postgrad studies in philosophy of physics. I came across Feyerabend for the first time in highschool, my philosophy teacher -and good friend- thought that I would enjoy very much his way of approaching the philosophy of science, he thought that I shared the approach because I would complain that Carnap, Popper and others were very narrow minded and stif handed in their writting. Interesting nevertheless, but cold and narrow. So the first book I read was the dialogues of A and B, one of his last writtings (originally published in italian), the title in english is something like "Dialogues about Method". Then of course, "Against Method" came into my life and many others.... Plus the letters of Feyerabend with Lakatos are one of my favorite ones! Ok, So my main subject at the moment (and was also of my BA thesis, because in mexico one has to do a thesis for the BA) was quantum mechanics (QM) and causation... I looked for Feyerabend's paper on Bohr's interpretation of QM, however, in a poor country like mine, well, the libraries are not what they should be... so I never had the chance to read the paper. If anyone here has it, please please please do let me have a copy... PLEASE. I consider that Feyerabend's ideas on scientific method and realism are the crutial point behind the disscision of Nancy Cartwright, Bas van Fraassen and Ian Hacking. Even though, because of the Radicalness and crazyness that Feyerabend enjoyed displaying, well these philosophers (except Hacking) do not say so explicitly. Shame! I would be very interested in talking about the points in common and the discrepancies between Feyerabend and Hanson, especially on the issue of how perception changes with theoretical bagagge... so please, anyone interested, here I am for a nice and interesting disscusion. _______________________________________________ List address: feyerabend-AT-driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/feyerabend-driftline.org
