Subject: [Puptcrit] News from British UNIMA

The British Centre of UNIMA, after a bit of a hiatus, has just launched
the replacement for the BrUNIMA Bulletin.
The BrUNIMA Bulletin has been published continuously in photocopied form
from 1964 to 2004 under the editorship of Jan Bussell, John Blundall,
Robert Fowler and Chris Abbott. Now, forty years on the house journal
is to be =93Puppet Notebook=94. A good impression of the contents of the
first issue which has an emphasis on Shadow Theatre can be seen at
http://www.unima.org.uk/editorial.asp?ia_id=8
It is now a 32 page 'glossy' with lots of excellent b/w photos. This
first issue (Winter 2004) is a shadow theatre special, which includes
Diana Baylis' account of a three week workshop with Amoros et Augustin
and a selection of articles on a variety of puppetry subjects including
Svankmajer's Feast - a review of celebratory exhibition of the artist's
work, Puppets in Paris - a review of contemporary exhibitions and news,
Hungarian Puppetry including an interview with Andras Lénért and much
more. Copies of this first issue are available online from Ray DaSilva
at www.puppetbooks.co.uk (First item under New books).
