Subject: [Puptcrit] Foam Figures

Has anyone ever tried using expanding foam to create a base for figure heads
I'm talking about the noncommercial stuff "Great Stuff" or equiv..
I had considered making a hollow mold, blow up a balloon to fit inside with
some
1/2 " space, fill with expanding foam, when set, pop the balloon leaving a
hollow
interior, then proceed from there to finish, painting, eye and mouth
mechanics and
 so on.
I would think Axtell uses some kind of expanding foam in his work.
Are there any sites describing this technique and how well would the foam
take
paint?. if I remember it hardens to a glass like surface.
 Mark
