Thanks Dusty, for the great comments. The advice about the helmet fittings 
is much appreciated!

Paper mache has been used for centuries, and some centuries-old pieces are 
still in near perfect condition (time means more opportunity for regualr 
wear and tear, of course...
A well-made and well protected paper mache piece can last centuries.
The ultimate in durability would be maniacally made, using acid free , 
archival materials, but who ever does?
And thiose century-old pieces were made when nobody knew about ph balance 
anyway...


So don't be affraid to use it.
