Jerome was a bit heavy on the head, as I took the "Well packed crumpled
newspaper" instruction to the extreme. My head was very hard even before I
started to apply the paper mache strips.
After a day of animating him, I performed a lobotomy to hollow out the
head. After that, he was a dream to work with, no longer hard to raisehim up
after bowing down. I was told some weight is necessary for movement
precision, but too much is as bad as not enough.

In a group of 7 participants, three of us had heads that were too heavy for
comfort. We either packed too much newpspaer, or made the heads too big. The
hole weight of the head is suported by the index finger. These hand puppets
were designed to be manipulated with index finger in head, pinky+ring
finger+middle finger in one hand, and thumb in the other.
