Subject: [Puptcrit] High Tech Little Shop of Horrors

Shop =92til you drop
.......

Still, the real star of the show has to be Audrey II. Designed by Martin P.
Robinson and The Jim Henson Workshop, the carnivorous houseplant is
actually represented by four separate puppets. The first two are hand
puppets, but the third consists of a full-body puppet, with the puppeteer
actually sitting inside a huge flowerpot. The fourth version is
considerably larger =AD weighing five tons and standing more 18 feet tall.
The monstrous plant is manipulated by a =93waldo=94 =AD a high-tech glove worn by
a puppeteer that helps create her life-like movement.

For Michael Latini, one of three puppeteers who bring Audrey II to life,
touring with Little Shop is =93the most fun in the world.=94

Turns out, it=92s also quite a work out.

=93It=92s extremely physical,=94 Latini admitted. =93I don=92t really need to go to a
gym =AD the show gives me plenty of exercise.=94 ....
