Maybe we should try to translate it.... The standard scholarly redaction of Automatopoietikes can be found in the 5-volume German edition of Hero of Alexandria's complete works, Heronis Alexandrini Opera qvae svpersvnt omnia (Lipsiae, 1899-1914), published as part of the Bibliotheca scriptorum Graecorum et Romanorum Teubneriana series. The German translation is available online at http://gallica.bnf.fr/document?O=N025186 I think an English translation is a terrific idea. Hero of Alexandria's work has canonical importance, but like most people I know it only through the secondary literature. Perhaps some classicist might be persuaded to take an interest in puppetry...?
