The facets of it catch the light differently each time the puppet moves an iota, giving the illusion of life. I learned that trick years ago from Frank Ballard and several other established puppeteers. If the sequin is large enough, cutting a small pie shaped wedge out of it before gluing it on strangely creates magic.
