Would it be worth my while (time and lots of gas \ hotel money) to see the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, GA? I'm (still) doing research on Postmodern puppetry... YES! And if you can get there by Sunday the 13th at 2:00 p.m. you can see the last performance of The Adventures of Mighty Bug in the Mainstage Theater, then on Tuesday see Rumpelstiltskin in the smaller Downstairs Theater. There's a large permanent museum that could take at least a couple of hours to see, as well as a smaller exhibit of gems from the collection. The library has hundreds of books and videotapes you can view by prior arrangement. And Atlanta does have a few other things you can see and do on Monday while the Center is closed to the public.
