I've seen a documentary years ago where they fed orphan hatchlings with a 
puppet. The puppet was simply a latex (or other flexible compound) cast of a 
bird's head. Not only did it look great, it was functional as well. The 
little ones would get the food from the mouth of the puppet. (I wonder if 
there was something to re-enforce the beak)
