Concerning the use of wood balls as Mr. Gamble stated, It just  popped into my
   mind that one can go to the hardware store and pick up several  sizes of 
wood
   ball cabinet knobs with threaded bolts installed, Obtaining  several of 
theses you
   would also purchase a hand full of nuts to fit and a scarp  piece of 1/4 
inch plywood
   place 2 nuts on the bolt and thread the bolt through a  hole drilled into 
the plywood and
   then place another nut on and tighten,(a washer would be  advised as well) 
this is done with each wood ball cabinet knob.
   what this will do is raise the wood knob off the surface for  working so 
one can form
   the styrene over the balls to create the eyes
