As I understand it, the more toxic (and effective) solvent-based contact 
cement formulas are slowly being phased out of the market due to 
environmental concerns. I think a lot of companies have been "tweaking" 
their formulas over the past ten years. Barge is still the best cement 
on the market from what I'm told.

Late last year after about two years of experimenting on and off with 
different products I switched to a "green" contact cement that contains 
no solvents (it's latex based). It takes some getting used to and it's a 
little annoying to work with compared to the solvent-based cement I 
believe the added nuisance is well worth it since it means avoiding 
potential environmental and health problems.

There's a variety of "green" cements on the market but I have been using
