I'd try a variable resister wired in series, adjust till the required speed
then disconnect carefully and measure the resistance.....one problemo. ...
resistance turns power into heat...to go from 1420 rpm to say 3 or 4 rpm
will create an amount of heat AND decrease the power to the point that you
would be lucky if the motor turned, let alone pulled the curtain. Bonfiglio
make a range of neat motor/gearboxes but you pay for them! Try a gearbox
from a Meccano set, a cheap car kit etc....... . . . good luck!

Thank you for the Information, that is a concern that I would burn out the
motor
it did come with a box of various size gears, will play around with what
you stated
if it fails then will go with plan B, as Jim Gamble stated it might be
better to obtain a setup made for the purpose
I may be able to locate a motor designed for window displays that would
rotate
at 2-4 rev. minute.will need to look around.
  Regards,
 Mark
