You may use a bicycle chain for the snake skeleton...sculpt a realistic 
snake, make plaster/hydrocal mold, cast in latex.   Insert the bicycle chain so 
that the flat part is horizontol...the arrangement will appear more lifelike than 
a read snake.   Thanks to an Australian puppeteer, Peter Millar, whom i met 
last month in Melbourne...I could not believe how realistic the snake 
appeared...!!   Jim Gamble
