Most professional theatres that book shows take a cut of anywhere from 10% - 40% of your gross sales. 2. Most schools/libraries frown on concession sales. 3. There can be a large upfront investment to get the inventory you need. 4. You usually need at least one extra person (two in my experience) to manage the table. Just my two cents. - Andrew Cahebay-AT-aol.com wrote: >I'm interested in how many have or is using back of room sales in their >shows, > One can gross more from these sales then the fees they receive for the >shows. > > Here are some ideas for those who may consider it > Items: > > T-SHIRTS > CAPS > POSTERS > AUTOGRAPHED PHOTOS > DVD'S (PERFORMANCE, MAIN PUPPET ADVENTURES, INSTRUCTIONAL, ECT.. > PROGRAMS > BOOKS > AUDIO TAPES ( MAIN PUPPETS WITH SING ALONG'S OR RELIGIOUS CONTENT) > BUMPER STICKERS > INSULATED AND CERAMIC MUGS > FLYING DISCS WITH IMAGES > HOW ABOUT INSTANT PHOTOS OF ONE'S CHILD WITH MAIN PUPPET , MATTED FOLDER >INC. > Custom coloring book with puppeteer and puppets in various scenes along >with a box of crayons > >Free Promotional ideas: > > Mailing advertisements promoting your service, obtain small brown or white >paper bags like what greeting cards > are placed in, blank, obtain a rubber stamp that states "It's in the bag", >stamp your bags , place your > ads in each and staple shut and address > > Mail postcards to all newspapers and magazines, TV stations ect.. >advertising your puppet show > one or more reporters will get the idea to interview you., I did this in >the 1970's and had full page > coverage in A new Jersey paper and also a piece in the New York times total >cost .15 cents postage > > "Birthday Club" - If you do home party shows, the kids join, providing >their birth dates and mailing address > via a parent, 14-24 days before their birthday you send a Birthday card >with your promo insert that you are > available for Birthday parties. > > > Just a couple of ideas for you that hope will be of value > > Regards, > Mark > > cahebay-AT-aol.com > > > >_______________________________________________ >List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org >Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org >Archives: http://www.driftline.org > > > > > -- Andrew The PuppetVision Blog "Retro-style puppet film and video goodness, delivered fresh to your computer each day." http://puppetvision.blogspot.com RSS Feed - http://puppetvision.blogspot.com/atom.xml _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
