(He called it "gummy" in his design drawings.) Bubbles in the plaster were always an annoying problem. One trick he used was to hold an electric vibrating back massager against the bowl of wet plaster to get the bubbles to rise to the surface and pop. He would do test castings, and would recast until he got a mold without any air bubbles.
