I have finished my foot attachement test. It works great, with a few little adjustements left to do. However, I see what you mean by loss of natural-ness. He walks great, but it is a sligthly exagerated walk, or slowed down, or speeded up. Very interesting. I do prefer it immensly over the forward tilt (which I had to try, and did, and hated the feeling of the puppet about to fall on its face.) I have to modify my own walk skightly, and be careful not to scrub the floor with the puppet's feet. The distance between my feet and the puppet's feet might be the problem. I will try to reduce the distance some more(that's why nothing is permently glued yet). Long live Duct Tape! I wonder how the puppeteers for films do it so naturally. Maybe they re-learn to walk, or they use a more sophisticated system, perhaps with another articulation.. (maybe I'm just assuming they do, to complicate things) Or maybe their puppet feet hover a bit above the floor, to reduce scraping and impact sound (my pink hard foam is lightweight, but has a good resonance). I will probably add a layer of fun foam underneath to reduce that effect. Was the person talking about making foam feet actually thinking soft foam?
