Cotton is great, Lokta is awesome, and I'm planning on trying japanese paper (Kozo, Mulberry, etc...) I,m told it is awesome. I only used watercolor paper because I couldn't use it for watercolors anymore (the roll had been stored in a garbage bag, and the plastic smell was unwashable). Best mistake I ever made, I guess. The strenght of the stuff is amazing. But now, I buy cotton linters (sheets of 100% cotton usually sold to people who make paper at home as a hobby, they tear it up ahgin and mix with other fibres for effects.) My supplier is a local professional paper maker, and his linter sheet seem about just as strong as Arches(minus the sizing, ecause there is none in the linter). For the moment, I have no funds, so I use a roll of black photography backdrop I was given. Basically same thickness and feel as thick kraft paper. Two layers is as strong as one layer of cotton paper. Mathieu René Créaturiste Marionnettes, Masques, Etcetera...
