This is very true. However books from this era had to have their ccopyright "renewed" every 11 years to stay in copyright and it's been estimated that upwards of 80% of the material from that era has "fallen" out of copyright. Part of the insanity of current copyright law is that there is no simple wasy to determine if an old work is still under copyright. Some very conscienscious people have gone to the trouble of tracking down copyright owners who didn't know that they held the copyright to old works. The bottom line is that these e-books are "probably" legal, but the only practical way to know is to wait for any copyright holder to step forward with an order to "cease and desist". - Ken - Selling fine handmade masks and paper sculptures at <url: http://www.oakfire.com> _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
