Ive just been introduced to a great product...extruded fibreglass rod! they
use it to re-enforce optic fibre cables...only 2mm thick incredible flexible
and an incredible high tensile strength. Used for formers and stringers in
giant puppets they are completely re-shapeable and recyclable! as to
skeletons under latex for large puppets we have been using PVC pipe with the
joints replicating traditional marrionette joints with a lot of
success.......
Re DVD's:
You can sometimes get a fungal bloom under the protective coating. This may
be minute and difficult to detect. Good indication is the errors happen at
the same spot every time. If no obvious scratches and other DVD's play OK
then I would suggest this is the problem. Your going to have to try
polishing but that is really only helpful with scratches. You can do it your
self with a soft cloth and some "Brasso" or very light cutting compound
instead of paying some one to do it.
If this fails "ce la vie!"

Hi all.

I am still looking for a few good ways to build strong yet lightweight knees
and elbows.
Right now, my size of puppet is human adult size.

The best example of the knees I need to make is in my favorite movie of all
time: Labyrinth.
The fire Gang, those feathery wild bunch of bird-like self-dismembering
creatures have the kind of knees I am looking for.
You can see how well they move in the movie, but even more so in the making
of, called "Inside the Labyrinth".

Does anyone on puptcrit know how those knees were built?
I know a lot of the material on the Labyrinth puppets are latex, but I am
pretty sure there is some kind of skeleton underneath those skinny yet
sturdy legs.

HELP
Exchanging a Jim Henson Home Entertainment DVD
I have the DVD collectors' edition of Labyrinth, and I was happy with the
contents, but it stopped working properly. I can barely access the special
features, and sometimes not at all. I cannot skip forward or backwards
(movie or special features) without the CD getting stuck in a reading loop.
Often, the movie stops playing altogether, as if needing to read more data
before going on. I cannot access the photo gallery anymore. Whatever the
problem is, I hear the Tic-Tic-tic of the DVD player straining. The sound is
very simlar to what the old 3.5 floppy disk readers on a macinstosh make.

My DVD player (on my computer) seems fine, I tested it intensely with
another DVD I have, and there was no glitches, even under the major effort I
asked of it.
I will still try to find another DVD player software, just to see if there
is an incompatibility with the specific DVD. Right now I use PowerDVD, and I
love it.

Has anyone else had problems with the collectors edition of Labyrinth?

I bought mine last year, and unfortunately the store where I bought it won't
exchange it, being over their 30 day return policy. Another problem is that
I only have the debit card receipt, not the actual receipt with all the
purchase info on it.

I'd be willing to send the DVD to a distributor, to get a replacement.
Who should I contact?

Otherwise, is it possible that the problem would be the physical coating of
the DVD itself? I see no major scratch or stains.
If I can't gert a replacement, I think I will risk having the disk
re-surfaced.
Any counter indications?

Thanks for any leads.
