Subject: [Puptcrit] sad news


I apologize for taking so many days to offer this sad news, but as I sat at
her funeral today I remembered that noone had written to announce the
passing of Claire DiMeo of Discovery Puppets  aka "Mrs. Tomato".  She died
last Friday afternoon, peacefully and unexpectedly, while sitting on the
couch after returning from a lunch with one of her daughters.

Claire, who attended and taught at many PofA and OCP festivals, was a large
part of the backbone of the Boston Area Guild of Puppetry, and a frequent
performer at Puppet Showplace Theatre until she "slowed down" four years ago
at the age of 75.  Never one to be idle, she just morphed her puppetry into
a new storytelling career.  With a glint in her eye and a keen appreciation
for great drama, she was an inspiration to all of us who knew her.
