Subject: [Puptcrit] RE:"break a leg"

Auf Deutsch, the cavalry man's "good luck" phrase was
"Hals und Beine Bruche" (sic)  which means break your
legs and your neck--a more likely result in that
profession.  Wishing bad luck to prevent the same is a
widespread phenom, but it's not impossible that this
bit of military jargon made it into stage linge.
