Subject: RE: [Puptcrit] Re: cancellation of Thai puppets' & visas. Date: Thu, 22 Sep 2005 09:14:22 -0400 From: "John Bell" <John_Bell-AT-emerson.edu> To: <puptcrit-driftline.org-AT-lists.driftline.org> I guess I don't understand the humor about "terrorists" and puppets. First of all, becasue some of my American puppeteer friends were arrested in Philadelphia in 2000 for making puppets (charges later dropped, but they were all put in jail). Secondly, I will not be able to see some of my European and Asian puppeteer colleagues perform in this country because of our government's immigration policies. All of this represents losses for American culture. Certainly the US must be protected, but how can we do this wisely and not shut ourselves off from the rest of the world and its great cultural treasures (like puppet shows)? jbell -----Original Message----- From: puptcrit-driftline.org-bounces-AT-lists.driftline.org [mailto:puptcrit-driftline.org-bounces-AT-lists.driftline.org] On Behalf Of Cahebay-AT-aol.com Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2005 8:54 AM To: puptcrit-driftline.org-AT-lists.driftline.org Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Re: cancellation of Thai puppets' & visas.
