Subject: [Puptcrit] Jim Henson/Muppets postage stamps--FIRST DAY Ceremony


After 2 tries, my system would not forward the following information Wednesday morning to puptcrit. This time I will type it.

The USPS Jim Henson stamp event is on Wednesday Sept 28th and will be in North Hollywood at the Academy of  Television Arts & Sciences. This day will include an unveiling of the Jim Henson & Characters (sculptured wall relief) in the Hall of Fame courtyard.

     9:30 a.m.- Courtyard sculpture is dedicated.

10:00 a.m.- stamp Press Event in the Leonard Goldenson Theatre, 5220 Lankershim Blvd, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, North Hollywood CA
followed b signings, interviews, photos, etc.

The US Postal Service will do their press event for the Jim Henson & Muppets stamp (set of 11 stamps on one sheetlet), hosted by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood CA. The Academy is going to use this day to also "dedicate" the Jim Henson wall sculpture that is hanging in their courtyard to honor Jim as a member of their Hall of Fame.

This means that before the stamp event begins, peer groups from the Academy will attend a gathering in the courtyard and Dick Askin (the Academy's Chair) will say a few words and pull the drape off the sculpture. The Academy's staff photographer will be on hand for a photo and they will run it in Emmy magazine and also  try to get it placed in the trades. Some Press from the later stamp event may also attend.

In total, no more than 100 people will be invited to this part of the day..compared with the 300-500+ people expected in their theatre.
