Subject: [Puptcrit] visible puppeteers


Interesting thread.

I recently saw the touring production of "Dr. Doolittle" and found that,
in too many cases, I was watching the actor/s instead of the puppets.  I
believe it was a problem with focus and energy.  The actor/puppeteer was
SO energetic and the puppet less energetic and lacking focus.  I
wondered whether or not the production was directed by a human actor
director with no puppetry expertise.

And for what it is worth (probably not much) I was not that impressed
with "Avenue Q".
