Greetings, ALL:

Nice to see some discussion here....

I wonder if any other puppeteers are bothered as much as I am concerning the 
fact that this Guilford Arts Center puppet exhibit (see below) - while a 
really wonderfull opportunity for any of us to show our works, - is awarding cash 
prizes, the recipients of same to be determined by the juror? 

I know we could all use some extra cash, but this in effect pits us one 
against the other as puppeteers and artists. BTW: It's not about what we do with 
these puppets, but rather what they look like and how they came into being. So, 
performance, which is our unltimate means of expression, and which ultimately 
determines our standing in the puppet community, is not to be considered. I 
suppose that's OK. After all, it is an ARTs Center. And they are used to this 
kind of thing this way. 

I am bothered by a few other factors in this call for exhibitors, but the 
fact that we are to have our works compete against each other for money is quite 
distasteful to me.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
