DLP stands for Digital Light PROCESSOR (I think) Actually many thousands of tiny mirrors produced on a chip the way integrated circuits are made. The big benefit of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) is the DLP projectors have about a 100x increase in contrast ratio... meaning much blacker blacks. The DLP projectors are more expensive than the LCD, but both kinds have models under $1,000 nowdays with plenty of lumnens of brightness.
