Subject: [Puptcrit] Charley Bowers - early stop-motion puppetry

Are folks here familiar with Charley Bowers? I just found a DVD of his
extant films
(Charley Bowers: The Rediscovery of an American Comic Genius) and it is
incredible.
See details on Amazon.

Bowers self-produced his own comedy shorts in the 20's and 30's,
integrating amazing
stop-motion puppetry, surreal gags and elaborate inventions. These films
were lost until
being unearthed in France in the 1970's. The puppetry is very
sophisticated for its time.
I've never seen anything like it.
