Subject: [Puptcrit] no puppets in this scene

>After letting the kids watch it once for our class, I made the decision that this film was inappropriate for our drug & alcohol ed class. SLC Punk (no puppets), London is Killing Me and other films are much better in describing the issues of substance abuse/use and realistic consequences.
Wayong

"Dogs in Space" and Andy Warholes "Trash" (no puppets here either) are also realistic insights into the world of substance abuse. Dogs featured Michael Hutchinson of INXS fame who later in life self destructed in a spectacular but a less than heroic fashion. Maybe a little hardcore in a class situation but then most of the clients I get the opportunity to work with wrote the book.
One of my clients performed at a festival with me recently, making the puppets and writing the script for an excerpt from Pinocchio...who turns 125 this year.....very witty and managed to limit the swearing/sexual innuendo/substance abuse to an open minded family friendly level. A very REAL and non concessional as well as relevant way of building self-esteem, positive community interaction and confidence.
And if Tim Burton wanted another idea for a dark and multi faceted tale of the macabre he should take a look at the REAL Pinocchio...as Collodi meant it to be.......and if you read this Tim.....I WANT A PART!
