Susan,

You may already know this, but here are a couple
guide lines for cutting foam core.
First, use a combination of the extendable
box cutter blades, it will allow you to cut lines
as much as 1 inch thick, and as your blade dulls,
and it will, You can just snap off the end and get fresh
blade surface.

The other blade I like is a #11 exacto or generic for
tighter curves. Or having a swivel blade accessible
when needed.

The other thing that will make a huge difference is
having a peice of hard pressed cardboard (Like what comes
off the back of a paper tablet)under what you are cutting.

And for sharp clean corners alway cut from the corner and out
and away.  Hope this is helpful.
