Subject: [Puptcrit] Review: 3-day puppet event in Montreal

Hi all.
I have had a terrific end-of-week, by attending the new micro festival of puppetry in Montreal.
Details at
Huge quality was there to be expreienced!

I saw the following:
Mimmi et Brumm =96 Figurentheater Margrit Gysin.
Amazing what this storyteller and puppeteer can do with two small hand puppets, a musical book and a few small objects.
The audience was spellbound for the whole duration, with only a slight dissipating, because of a fire alarm that had started by mistake. Mrs Gysin, the true professionnal, kept on performing since there was obviously no real cause for alarm, us being surrounded by staff, who were trying to stop the system.

I already wrote a review for this show, which I posted on puptcrit probably thursday night.

Les br=E8ves de Casteliers (multiple artists from Quebec and Basil Twist from New York)
Everyone was presenting short excerpts or mini shows from their repertoire. Everything was interesting and most of it was tremendoulsy stimulating for me. I was most impressed with a company called "Les Sages Fous" from Trois-Rivieres, with their excerpt from the new show: "Bizzarium". Great underwater theatre! Their boat, their fishes, their underwater creatures all movce so amazingly!
They tour worldwide most of the time, so please keep your eyes peeled for their name coming near you someday.

Basil Twist was showing two short pieces. he closed the evening with his Stickman, I'll review in a separate email.

I'm looking forward to more events organised by this new puppet promotion organisation.
