I met a robotics specialist who manufactured his own electronic circuits, and then he designed and made his own control panels with Lexan sheets, onto which he printed the data and labels. I don't think these were stickers. Maybe photo emulsion? I'm almost certain if you get a rough or "matte" lexan, it can be spray painted opaque. Another way: I think there are thicker version of a semi-translucent plastic sheet called Mylar. The regular mylar I've tried was frosted on one side, and you could even draw with graphite pencils on it. Rip-proof, under reasonable uses.
