The shape of it, the expression, and the uniform remind me of the Czech character Schweyk, as in Jaroslav Hacek's The Good Soldier Schweyk (see images below from http://www.travel-images.com/czech2.html and http://www.kommersant.ru/images/Schweik.jpg).

I am looking for any info you can give on the attached pic [ see 
http://www.driftline.org/puptcrit/P2230001.JPG  ] of a puppet I 
picked up in Germany while stationed there. I tried selling it and 
someone had emailed me that it was Dutch due to the uniform. Any info 
would be greatly appreciated.
