Hi all,

The turtles were made here as Stan Winston Studios. They are a
combination of techniques. Rod puppetry for the bodies and limbs.
Real time radio control (to servo motors) for the eyes and brows -
yes they have brow movement. The dialog is pre-recorded so puppeteer
has time to do ten or so takes one right after the other and keep the
best one(s) on the computer for the time on set. The playback is
also to the small hobby type servo motors. This saves a lot of time,
but we also still do a few live takes. Just as often as not, there
is some real magic in the live ones so the pre canned ones are
technically perfect but the live ones have more heart. Oh yes, one
of the turtles can actually fully retract its head - that was a
challenge to include in the build!

Is an ad site for them. I haven't but barely looked at it so I don't
know if there are any pictures or more footage if them.

(but I was on a different commercial, I just watched the turtles
being built...and played with them a little)
