Subject: [Puptcrit] Puppets that use a body part as a 'host'

Hi there I am working on a project for my design course at college and am
required to make a puppet

that uses any part of the performers body as a mechanism to hold the puppet
and also provide a mechanism

of manipulation. The puppet is also required to have a life of its own and
the appearance of independent movement.

The puppet can be manipulated in any way such as string and rod, etc. The
puppet in question is being made for

the theatre space (no television) and therefore must be able to carry
visuals over a distance. I am particularly

interested in creating an animal puppet - birds being a main focus of
attention. Any information in regards to how I

would go about making the puppets and help with what kind of mechanisms I
could employ, would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Roger
