We will be offering for sale a 1940s puppet theatre along with 25
puppets at our March 11-12 auction.  Here is the catalog description:
Lot # 831 -- 27 hand-crafted puppets and props: traveling puppet show
with hand-crafted carved wood and painted puppets, include noblemen,
middle-eastern figures, goblins, some heads with parts missing, some
clothing with damage, all with scattered soiling, 25 puppets complete,
two with bodies only, all with human-hair wigs, 17" to 28", with
elaborate painted wood stage sets with folding elements, costumes, extra
control rods, furniture, animals, buildings with hinged doors and
windows, backgrounds including middle ages scenes, lengthy hand-written
German inscription (translation attached) includes "Beginning of the
puppet theater, Will and Ida, April 18, 1940, hand made by Ida and Willy
Giesen, Maspoth, New York, LI NY", props with chips, separations and
breaks throughout, wooden lift-top case 37 x 97 x 26", includes trunk 18
x 31 x 21", Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000
