Subject: [Puptcrit] Silicone oven mits as "mouth plates"

Hi, all you thinkers and searchers for the better Puppet.

I bought a pair of small silicone pot holders, when I tried them at the store. Onepair costs 12$ canadian. Each holder looks perfect to make a one-piece, strong mouthplate for a "mouth puppet". They are comfortable, just the right stiffness (for me), anti slip (remains to be tested with sweat), and resist heats up to 572F!
They are about a centimeter shorter of jaw than I would have liked, but I can live with that.
They only cover the fingers up to the knuckles, and the cut is not abrasive against the skin (rounded edges and smooth contours).
I can see this as a removeable insert, because it is silicone, and not much will stick to it anyway.
To wash, soap and water. You could even use the dishwasher.

There was a bigger pair available, that would cover the entire forearm, but it was molded horizontally, in one long piece, too stiff for comfort, and all silicone, so the sweat would accumulate. Yuk.

If these don't' work as puppet mouth plates, I can always use pot holders in the kitchen, if only to take my plaster molds from the oven.
I won't report on these anytime soon, I am busy with a few maskmaking contracts.
