Subject: [Puptcrit] Lettie Schubert :(


Years ago my first puppet mentor, Nancy Brownstone, urged me to contact 
Lettie. She spoke so highly of her. Then, when I was studying with Bob 
Hartman, he also suggested her. Through him I was able to meet with her 
twice. She seems to have been a virtual miracle of contact/information and 
was unbelievably humble and warm. She invited me to borrow books from her 
puppet library. She also sent me an encouraging card which I keep under 
glass on my dressing bureau. She told me to keep in touch, something that I 
am famously poor at. A bizarre accent in the shock of just learning of her 
passing is that Bob only recently suggested that I call her to answer 
something I had asked him. I'm so very sad to have not gotten to Know Lettie 
better, and most regretful of not having called her.
