I think I see what you mean by sockets holdig the eye. One up and one down, 
or on either side?

I remember you wrote about the photoshop technique before.
I've wanted to try that.
But I am very suspiscious of inks. I once saw a close-up photo of a 
Thunderbird puppet's eyes, taken manyb years after the show was done. It was 
completely faded, no real color left.
I think I remember they used photos instead of inks, but it still faded.

What brand of ink do you use in your printer?
Is this a bubble-jet or a laser printer?

Canon makes a lightfast ink that is guaranteed 25 years.

I can't try this technique on my current printer. The resolution is too 
grainy and weak in small sizes. My eyes would be 8 mm diameter.
