Ive been very happy with the Sony MZ-R90 Mini disc recorder with a Stereo 
condensor mic that sits on the unit...Great sound quality, reliability good 
features etc and very very reasonable for what they are....the next step up 
is pro and thats getting expensive. Ive also heard good reports about the 
Sony MZ-NF610 (Im not a Sony dealer but they are the better mini disc 
makers) that comes with software for the computer. Both can download in the 
digital domain to your computer through USB2. Im not into Mac so cant help 
there but www.tucows.com is always a good place to find software to try 
before you buy......
