Your justifiable wincing at the concept of disposables might be soothed by a rumor about the origins of hot glue sticks. An old prop shop boss, who's appetite for obscure information earned him the nickname of "Dr. Science" on our crew, came up with a delightful swords-to-plowshares story that goes like this: after napalm got some bad press in Vietnam it just wasn't considered very cool to have around any more. Rather than wasting the stockpiles, a new way of using the stuff was cooked up, so to speak. Hence thermoplastic adhesives. This is too much of a happy-sappy ending for me to accept the whole story at face value, but preliminary googling didn't shed any light on the subject. As with so many rumors, there may be an ounce of truth in there somewhere. Anybody got a clue? -G _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
