My glue gun, a Sears- bought when I was in college several decades ago- died on me last month in the middle of a big project. I ran out and bought another at the craft store. I didn't buy the cheapest model, so we'll see how long it lasts. My old one was not an expensive model, as I had NO money in college, yet it lasted all those years! It is aggravating that it is easier to just replace EVERYTHING these days than try to fix it. We can take the analogy all over the place- DVD players, computers, appliances, cars, toys, furniture and my favorite, personal relationships. There is the value of quantity over quality, and of everybody being able to afford at least one of everything. Why do these products not last like they used to? Why have I gone through four VCRs in the past ten years, yet still have our twenty year old one as a spare, because, despite it's fall on the floor and cracked plastic, it still works? You may be looking out for your bottom line and feeding your family when you buy the cheap products and tossing the broken ones, but all that garbage, all that plastic, is going to be around for all our great grandkids to deal with someday. Wouldn't it be better if we could get quality-made products at a mid-range cost that would last like their predecessors? Wouldn't it be great to expect a product to work like it's supposed to, for a reasonable amount of time, rather than having to buy half a dozen spares in the hopes that you'll have one that works when you need it??? Mathieu- let us know how your new Arrow lasts. Okay, my rant is through- now I must take out the recycling, empty the compost and wash the organic veggies for lunch!
