Hey Mathieu,
  Some places have a FreeCycle network. It is web based. You join and 
post something that you want to get rid of that is in useful condition, 
say your old bike, and someone who needs it sees it and arranges to 
pick it up. The idea is that people who need items get them, rather 
than someone getting it to sell it.
