Mathieu- If you coat the plaster first, with a slightly thinned application of shellac, the plaster is sealed, and will not absorb the oils in your clay. But the shellac has to be thinned and not applied direct from the can. Several thin layers are best. The plaster readily absorbs the shellac which seals it. IF - you apply too thick a layer, there is the remote possibility that the shellac will flake off.
