At what point will our personal ethics clash with our professional practice...and I see puptcrit as an invaluable forum for exploring this, OK its going to get soap packaging, grand standing, off topic and personal but do we need to run away from that? Jim Gamble and I clash often and yet I maintain the highest respect for his practice and his beliefs. Should either of us leave the list? OK, in practise, Ill start the ball rolling... I HAVE been asked to perform work for McDonalds and I refused point blank, I dont need to go into why do I? (when they discovered that I was the puppeteer with troll handing out "whats wrong with McDonalds" flyers to their customers every saturday morning they were relieved that I said no! Bugger, I missed an opportunity there didnt I) Other organisations I would gladly turn down? Nike, Gap, Bunnings Hardware, Woolworths and most cosmetic companies. Obviously any company dealing with flesh products (not only because of the inhumane treatment of animals but because of the huge waste of protein in the industry and the clear felling of land for protein crops to feed that waste) and any company that has a role in promoting conflict in foreign countries...and boy THAT is a tangled web! I have had numerous offers to work for well known circuses and have declined most because of the documanted ill treatment of their animals. There's my line, whats yours? Daniel PS I think Jim replied to you off list Doris, which made your reply very confusing for the rest of us! _______________________________________________ List address: puptcrit-AT-lists.driftline.org Admin interface: http://lists.driftline.org/listinfo.cgi/puptcrit-driftline.org Archives: http://www.driftline.org
