Richard,

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, an Auto immune variety of Arthritis.
About 7 years ago, I had to give up almost all of the materials
that puppeteers have relied on for years. Celastic, etc.
I have found a great substitute in Vara Form. Non-Toxic.
Weight is slightly heavier, but still pretty light weight.
Fred was great about helping me work through some of the
bugs. I also have replaced a lot of the toxic paints
with Scenic Water based paint and use Sculpt or Coat
for laminations. Water based Flat & Glossy Varnish also
from Sculptural Arts Co.

The only things we use in our studio that are toxic is our
Glue 3M Gasket Glue & some Acetone for cleaning, but only with
Chemical protective gloves.

I keep trying other glues, but I just haven't been able to find
a non-toxic glue that provides the needs we have.

At any rate my point is that you can run a work studio that is
almost completely toxic free and still develop professional
pieces.
