Subject: [Puptcrit] Public Domain, lurker question


I have a question, and I'm thinking someone on this list could help.  How can you find out if something is public domain?  I'm wanting to use a book I loved as a child for a show, but I don't know if the copyright is still good, although I do know it's out of print.

I 'googled' the title, but didn't find anything about whether the copyright is still active.
