Subject: Re: [Puptcrit] Vacuum forming

I have been vaccuforming my marionette bodies as well as some shoes (and even
some heads on occasion - for 20 years. My marionettes are caberet style and
are fairly large, and by having hollow plastic bodies it cuts down
considerably on the weight. I do re-inforce the area where the arms, head, and legs
attach. I also have been making arms, legs, hands & shoes out of alumalite.
Great stuff!! I can make a head in about four minutes and they are very conducive
to making the animations. (I animate all the eyes, and most of the mouths.
sometimes eyebrows and tongue sticking out. There is another material similar
to alumalite called Smooth-on. A rubber mold is necessary to use both of
these materials. P of A member Dave Greenbaum sells both of these products. Dave
also does workshops on how to use these products at some of the festivals.
